The Big Issue

Reiter8 is featured in Taiwan's The Big Issue. They were kind enough to send me a copy. The article reports on the hows and whys of Reiter8 and sustainable lifestyle. The layout is beautiful and fun to see 'Katherine' and 'Reiter8' amongst all the Chinese characters.

Have a wonderful long weekend!

Shopping With the New York Times

I'm thrilled to be featured in todays Home Section of the New York Times. I met with (super nice) reporter Tim McKeough several weeks ago to shop for nautical decor in lower Manhattan for the Shopping With feature. There's also an interactive feature.

I had a great time creating a collection. I'll post later the lovely items that didn't make the story, but are worth a look.

Top Pick

Reiter8's Green 8 Tote was Jillian McCoy's the top pick in her article Spring Fashion: Top 5 Nautical Tote Bags. (No Foolin' - it is April first after all.)

"This bag has enough cool to last you way past the warmer months - imagine how cute this would be carrying your books next fall."

The other 4 picks are fantastic and as Julian notes: all will take you from work to the neighbor's barbecue to your first beach trip of the year effortlessly - and still look pretty cute doing it.

I'm dreaming of that first trip to the beach, how 'bout you?

Ready, Set ...

Early load in at the Gifted Market today was a breeze (thank you Brooklyn Flea!). It was great to see old friends, catch up, leisurely unpack and set up. Trust me, this is going to be a great market to come to.

Check out the piece that Channel 7 Eyewitness News broadcast this evening about the market:

Clambake!

I'm trilled to share that Reiter8's Recycled Sail Luggage Tags have been featured in an Food & Wine / Etsy article!

The Food & Wine site features a lovely slide show of images and yummy recipes by husband and wife chefs Gabriel Frasca and Amanda Lydon of the Nantucket restaurant The Straight Wharf on Nantucket Island.

'As the style editor for Food & Wine, Jessica Romm gets to combine her twin passions for excellent food and amazing design. Every month she tracks the best in tabletop, choosing stunning plates, glasses and other serving pieces to showcase in the magazine. To start off a new series of Food & Wine summer party picks, she shares a few of her favorite nautical Etsy Finds for the perfect clambake.'

'These luggage tags would be great wrapped around napkins. They are a fabulous party favor, since guests can use them again and again.'

I love the idea of giving them as favors! And using them as napkin rings - how creative is that?!

Among my favorites of her picks are:

Alyssa Ettinger's Mason Jar Lantern:

These beautiful block print napkins by Julie Peach:

The sturdy bowls and mugs by Dodge Station Pottery:

And this enamelware pot by Cabin Windows:

There are many more, so I urge you to read the Etsy article, check them out and start your shopping list!

Have a great weekend!!

Storque Spotlight

I got an order via Etsy the other day and the delivery address was...Etsy. Etsy HQ is within walking distance so I couldn't resist personally delivering the bag. Vanessa, the recipient, was very gracious and despite my unannounced visit took time to chat and gave me a great tour. The Etsy people have a pretty sweet set up over at 325 Gold St on the 6th Floor. There's lots of equipment, supplies and spaces to work. It was great to meet everyone in person. I am a big fan of Etsy. The interface is fun and easy - kind of like the atmosphere over on Gold Street.

Read more about the visit in the Storque Spotlight. As always, thanks for your order!
