Nautical Wedding: Sail Ring Pillow

I do!

Ah, it's almost that time again. The wedding season is just around the corner!

A recycled sail ring pillow is the ultimate detail for a nautical themed wedding. They are available all white or with the wedding date embroidered on a stripe of green, red, blue, green, black or yellow insignia cloth. I love the richness of the yellow. Available here and here.

Reclaimed and Upcycled

Here's another 'new' tote.

The handle material was reclaimed form a local belt factory that went out of business. The same place where the red patent leather bands on the 'Look at Me' tote came from in the previous post. Both totes are available here.

Good news, the old belt factory building was reclaimed and upcycled, too. It's been restored and revamped into The Invisible Dog Art Center. They always have interesting events going on: art openings, plays, open studios. Definitely worth a visit if your in the neighborhood.

Have a great weekend!

Say hello to my latest addition. It''s a kind of 'Cat in the Hat' don't take me too seriously tote.

Look at me!
Look at me!
Look at me NOW!
It is fun to have fun
But you have to know how.
-Dr. Seuss from The Cat in the Hat

Feeling the Love

West Elm, the modern furniture and decor company has teamed up with Etsy to feature some of their favorite Etsy sellers in this Springs catalog. And lookie there: they choose to feature a Reiter8 upcycled sail tote! The tote didn't make the Spring catalog, but has made their website (pictured above) and is listed as a favorite on West Elm's Etsy profile.

More about the collaboration on West Elms website under the 'We Love' tab.

The tote featured is available in my shop on Etsy.

A few of my favorites who are also featured:

Thank You Totes

I'm often asked 'Where do you get your sails?' I have a donation program. When someone donates their sail, they get a tote or a pair of pillows upcycled from their sail in return.

Here are the latest 'Thank You' bags from a recent donation. I love how worn the logo is - crisp blue weathered to a perfect crackle!

Piled High

Brooklyn got walloped with another snow storm last night which resulted in a snow day today.
I've been dreaming of tropical vacations (like every New Yorker these days!), but I must say, today there's no place I'd rather be than Brooklyn, NY.

I've uploaded a few more photos on flickr

Catch a Wave

I think this 'wave chair' is stunning in it's simplicity.

Designed and crafted by Carley Eisenberg in Boone, NC, it's made from walnut, bend ply in addition to walnut and birch veneer.
"All of my pieces are assembled the old-fashioned way, with wooden dowels and strong joints. There are no staples, nails or hidden brackets like most commercial furniture of today. My pieces will last a lifetime."

Every Piece that Carley creates is green and is made of wood milled in her own shop, instead of being shipped across the country.

More info at her website here and her Etsy shop here.
